Dorothee Hartinger, born in Germany in 1971, trained at the Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts in Munich. Engagements at the Munich Kammerspiele, the Salzburg Festival, Schauspiel Frankfurt and Thalia Theater in Hamburg followed. In 2002 she joined the ensemble at the Burgtheater in Vienna. In 2008 Erwin Wurm painted her portrait for the new gallery at the Burgtheater. In 2001 Hartinger received the Deutscher Kritikerpreis of the Association of German Critics for her portrayal of Gretchen in Peter Stein’s Faust. She teaches drama at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.
