Markus Scheumann, born 1968 in Dortmund, trained at the University for Music and Theatre in Hamburg. He has had permanent engagements at the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim, the Schauspiel in Cologne, and the Schauspielhaus in Düsseldorf. Markus Scheumann is regularly involved in German and Swiss TV productions and films, as well as radio and literary readings. Since 2009 he has been narrating the daily radio show Sternzeit on Deutschlandfunk and has presented the German-language version of new novels by Irving, Cunningham and Sorokin, among others. He was a member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich for ten years before he joined the Burgtheater ensemble in the 2019/20 season.
