Michael Maertens

Michael Maertens, born in Hamburg in 1963, trained at the Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts in Munich. Maertens is a winner of the Boy Gobert Award. He has had engagements at the Schillertheater in Berlin, the Deutsche Theater Berlin, the Munich Kammerspiele and the Berliner Ensemble. He joined the Schauspielhaus Bochum as a permanent ensemble member in 2001 and had regular guest appearances at the Burgtheater in Vienna from 2002/03. In 2005 he received the Nestroy Theatre Award in the Best Male Actor category (shared with Nicholas Ofczarek). Michael Maertens became a member of the Burgtheater ensemble in the 2009/10 season.
