THEATERTAG: Adern

In Adern, playwright Lisa Wentz describes a life that unfolds not only against the backdrop but also in the shadow of the Tyrolean mountains. The family at the heart of her piece is not spared from the world events of the 20th century. In this postwar society, silence is a clear form of expression. David Bösch’s production explores the unspoken words and the changing tone within the family, shining a spotlight on a kind of language that conceals repressed traumas and oppressive secrets.

Following a special performance of Adern, the DÖW Documentation Centre of Austrian Resistance and the Burgtheater will host an audience discussion on ways to establish an individual and collective commemoration and remembrance culture.

• With ADERN, Lisa Wentz wins the Retzhofer Drama Prize 2021 and the NESTROY 2022 for BEST PLAY.
