All of our venues are centrally located and easy to reach by public transport. Anyone arriving by bicycle will find a bicycle stand close to the venue.

If you are coming by car, please remember that the 1st and 3rd districts are short-term parking zones and subject to a parking fee. Thanks to our collaborative partners, we are able to offer you special conditions in the nearby underground car parks.

The Burgtheater, Akademietheater and Kasino evening box offices open one hour before curtain time, and the Vestibül evening box office opens 30 minutes before curtain time.
Whether you wish to buy a ticket or collect a pre-ordered ticket, at our evening box offices we strive to offer the best possible service for that evening’s performance. If you have questions regarding other performances, the regular daytime box offices are happy to help.

If you’ve already paid for your ticket or booked it as part of your flex subscription, you can pick it up anytime at any box office of the Austrian Federal Theatres (Bundestheater).
We recommend picking up tickets at the evening box office no later than 30 minutes before curtain time.


The following tickets can only be collected at the evening box office:

  • Subscription tickets for which you have changed the date

  • Online tickets for school pupils, apprentices and students < 27

If you don’t print it out right away after booking, you can do so until the day of the performance. If, for some reason, you have not printed out your print@home ticket before the performance, we are happy to keep it for you to pick up at the evening box office. Print@home is then no longer possible.

In the Burgtheater and Akademietheater, the doors to the auditorium open no earlier than 30 minutes before curtain time. While you wait, you can purchase refreshments in the main foyer of the Burgtheater and Akademietheater.


In the Kasino and Vestibül, there is free seating. The admission time varies depending on the production, but the doors open no later than 10 minutes before curtain time. Our Visitor Information Centre or front-of-house team is happy to help if you have any Questions.

We hope you understand that latecomers can only be admitted during intervals.

It is important to be comfortable in order to enjoy an evening at the theatre. Our patrons wear anything from elegant eveningwear to Jeans.

Yes. For security reasons you will have to hand in outerwear, rucksacks, bags, cases, luggage, bulky items, umbrellas and walking sticks (with exceptions) at the cloakroom in all of our venues.
Our venues have sufficient cloakrooms. The cloakroom fee is € 1.30 per person.


In the Burgtheater each section of the auditorium – i.e. front stalls, stalls, dress circle and grand circle, and gallery – has its own cloakroom. Our front-of-house team will be happy to show you the way. Visitors seated in a box can take their outerwear and bags with them.


The Akademietheater has cloakrooms on the ground floor, on the right- and left-hand side of the auditorium.


In the Kasino and in the Vestibül there is a cloakroom in the entrance area.

You can purchase programme booklets from our front-of-house team on the evening of the performance. If you would like to get a programme booklet in advance, you can buy one at our Visitor Information Centre in the main foyer of the Burgtheater or order one in writing. Please note that we only have programme booklets for the current productions.

Please check the online programme or contact our Visitor Information Centre to find out how long the performance is and how many intervals there will be. On the evening of the performance, you can find that information on the posters or ask our front-of-house team.


In the case of new productions, we can only announce the length of the performance and the number of intervals on the day of the premiere.


In the case of special events, the information provided way vary.

A theatre physician is on site at all performances at the Burgtheater and Akademietheater. If you are not feeling well or are experiencing health problems, please do not hesitate to summon our front-of-house team for help.
