Hans Dieter Knebel
Hans Dieter Knebel, a qualified master confectioner, began his stage career as an actor and director’s assistant at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in 1978. From 1979 to 1981 he was a member of the Wuppertaler Tanztheater and was involved in all ongoing productions there, playing the role of Bluebeard in Pina Bausch’s piece of the same name, among others. His work with that ensemble took him to Paris, Berlin, Belgrade, South America and Israel. In 1981 he returned to the Schauspielhaus in Bochum. In 1986 he came to the Burgtheater when Claus Peymann took over the theatre’s directorship and has been a member of the ensemble ever since.
