We also invite you to experience the Burgtheater and its cultural heritage on Google Arts & Culture.

A guided tour of the Burgtheater offers unique insights into the architecture, art, organisation and history of one of Europe’s largest and oldest theatres.

The tour includes the grand staircases with the famous ceiling murals by Franz Matsch and brothers Gustav and Ernst Klimt, the sculpture collections of famous dramatists such as Hauptmann, Schnitzler, Raimund and Nestroy, and the portrait gallery of renowned ensemble members, through to the technical side of Europe’s largest theatre. Visitors will also be taken into the auditorium, provided that there are no rehearsals or performances underway.
