PoetrySlam Meisterschaft

The German-Language Poetry Slam Championships are Europe’s largest spoken word festival. Once a year, the most talented slam poets from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Belgium and South Tyrol get together to present their best texts and performances and to compete for the title of German-Language Poetry Slam Champion. The festival, established in 1997, is always held in a different German-speaking city, usually in Germany or Switzerland. But this year, it is Austria’s first time doing the honours. In addition to the individual competition, there is also a team category – a highlight for slam connoisseurs. In the course of four days, Vienna will host ten preliminary rounds, six semi-finals and two finals in the individual and team categories. 

The very last event will be held at the Burgtheater, where the finalists in the individual category will battle it out for the coveted title. With the entire poetry slam scene present, it promises to be a rousing event.
