JOACHIM MEYERHOFF READS UNPUBLISHED TEXTS

The narrator in the novels "Alle Toten fliegen hoch" already gave us glimpses into various worlds. This journey began more than 15 years ago in the Vestibül of the Burgtheater. Across six evenings, Meyerhoff explored the narrative world he then went on to expand into several novels. A childhood spent on the grounds of a psychiatric clinic, a year as an exchange student in Wyoming, staying with grandparents and training at drama school, turbulent affairs of the heart as a young actor at provincial theatres, and the after-effects of a stroke – all of these events made their way into books. Meyerhoff’s as yet unpublished novel that will come out in late 2024 focuses on his struggle to establish himself in Berlin and his escape to the countryside to live with his 85-year-old mother. In the seclusion of the hinterland, he writes about the theatre as a place full of comical entanglements and grotesque incidents – while the deep affection between mother and son is always at the heart of it all.
